Hey there!

My name is Tonia O’Neal. I’m a writer, researcher, and documentation specialist dedicated to making complex information accessible, accurate, and engaging.

With over a decade of experience as an analyst and project manager, I specialize in technical writingprocess documentation, and educational content development. My background in Anthropology and Museum Studies informs a deep respect for how people learn, remember, and navigate systems—whether they’re exploring a new training manual or a historic cemetery.

On this site, you’ll find examples of my work, from e-learning modules to instructor-led training materials. I aim to craft solutions that not only meet educational goals but also empower learners to grow, apply, and retain knowledge.

Whether you’re looking for a custom e-learning course, a comprehensive training program, or innovative instructional design strategies, I’m here to collaborate with you to create exceptional learning experiences that drive results.

What I Do

Technical Writing & Editing
I create clear, user-centered documentation: process guides, SOPs, manuals, and internal communications.

Instructional Design
I design training materials that support both the learner and the organization—from e-learning modules to instructor-led sessions.

Content Strategy
I transform abstract or disorganized information into usable, actionable content with structure and flow.

My research into the role of preservation and ownership in cemetery longevity can also be found in Burial Practices.

Digital History holds my practicum experience that I spent with the Thomas Sappington House Museum in Crestwood, MO. I created two archaeological display cases. Additionally, I used the e-learning tool, the Clio to create driving and walking tours.

Bulldozing a Path: North St. Louis and NGA is a short documentary film that explores the idea of urban renewal as a cyclical cycle. I worked on this film with my classmate, Jim Gass and the Griot, a local St. Louis museum.

Migration of the Dead is an Omeka site I build to journey the dead at St. Bridget of Erin Crypts had gone on until they found their final resting place at Calvary Cemetery.

St. Louis Cemetery History is the ArcGIS project I created from my research on burial practices in St. Louis. Cholera has had a major impact on the landscape by determining where we place our green spaces.

Field experience explains my various field research projects. During the summer of 2022 I spent several weeks at the Pylos Site near Iklaina, Greece. I studied the comparisons between Greek Kandylakias and American Roadside Shrines.
